Spine Twist

Benefits:

  • increased mobility of the spine (especially the thoracic spine)
  • improved flexibility of the back muscles and external obliques
  • improved digestion

Method:

Start with sitting tall and your legs stretched out. Suck your belly button in and engage your core muscles. Inhale to raise your arms to shoulder height (either stretch them to the side or place them on top of each other). As you exhale, twist your upper body to the right as far as your current mobility lets you without moving your legs, inhale to return to the centre, then exhale and twist to the left. Stay tall with keeping your shoulder blades down and your chest up.
